SiC Bulletproof Components
HuaCera® silicon carbide material has excellent properties particularly suitable for making lightweight composite bulletproof armor plate. It features low density, extremely low porosity, density exceeding 98% of theoretical density, very fine grains with grain size less than 10 microns, and possesses extremely high hardness, compressive strength, and elastic modulus, providing outstanding bulletproof performance. Silicon carbide ceramics are usually used in combination with backing materials (such as polyethylene (PE) or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)) to effectively absorb and manage the kinetic energy of impacts. It can resist high-velocity projectiles and is suitable for bulletproof vests, transport aircraft, helicopters, land armored vehicles, and gunboats.
